US Retail Industry
The retail industry is on a boom all over the world. As the say the biggest economy of the era is the US (United States). All major business decisions affecting the world across are taken and dictated by this economy. The United States was a pioneer in the business of retail. The history of retail business is as old as 1800. In the early 18th century in the United States the concept of retail was limited to a general store where by people would go and shop for articles of necessity. A specialty store was only where the population exceeded 5000. The general store since was a place of necessity there was not much required in a store. It already has a customer base. The functions performed by a general store were more important then, since the customers did not have an avid variety of choice, they were not demanding. Also the reason for the striving success of these general stores then was "necessity". As the people around had no other options but to go for the general store. In the current scenario the us retail industry is thriving and booming. With the mushroom like growth of the retail business across the whole of the United States it is more likely that to predict that this industry will very soon come in to the category of the infrastructure industry.
Retailers succeed in international markets when they adapt their retail format and practices to the salient institutional norms in the host market and achieve legitimating from the relevant social actors. Managing customer relationships is a very important issue in business-to-business markets. The most important aspect of the retail in the us is the prime focus on the customers. The customer is treated like god and is given the due he reserves. |
